Factors Causing Centrifuge Rotor Imbalance

Author:QINSUN Released in:2023-06 Click:186

The centrifuge is mainly used to separate the solid particles in the floating liquid from the liquid; or to separate two different densities and immiscible liquids in the emulsion (such as separating cream from milk); It can also be used to remove liquid from wet solids, such as drying wet clothes with a washing machine; different types of high-speed tube separators can also separate gas mixtures of different densities; use solid particles of different densities or particle sizes to settle in liquids According to the characteristics of different speeds, some decanter centrifuges can also classify solid particles according to density or particle size.

A centrifuge has a centrifugal shaft that rotates rapidly around its own axis, called a bowl, usually driven by an electric motor, to separate the juice.sample.

According to the traditional theory, the breakdown of the centrifuge is caused by the excessive imbalance of the rotor, and the sample weighing error, the overflow of the centThe sample liquid rifugated during the process of centrifugation and rotor corrosion are the main factors causing rotor imbalance.

The main reasons are as follows:

1. When the centrifuge tubes are balanced, due to the long-term use of the balance without calibration, the imbalance of the symmetrically placed centrifuge tubes exceed 0.2-1.1 g.

2. An accident occurred when the aluminum alloy centrifuge cap and the stainless steel centrifuge cap were mixed (the specific gravity of the two is different).

3. Since the specific gravity of the original sample is not equal to the specific gravity of the balancing fluid, the dynami balancethat of the rotor is unbalanced and an accident occurs.

4. When using the horizontal rotor, the bucket serial number and the main body of the horizontal rotor are accidentally installed incorrectly, which will affect the dynamic balance of the centrifuge rotor.

5. When the centrifuge tube is loaded with samples, because the liquid sample is full or the centrifuge tube cap is not tightly closed, the high vacuum state in the centrifuge chamber during the centrifugation process will cause the centrifuge tube to flatten, rupture, and the sample liquid will overflow, resulting in rotor imbalance and shaft failure. Bending or broken shaft accidents.

6. Improper use and disinfection of the centrifuge tube cap rubber sealing ring and rotor lid rubber sealing ring, such ass aging cracks and loss of waterproofness due to long-term use of fractures and high temperature disinfection (use of drying oven to bake), etc. During high-speed operation, overflow results in unbalanced rotor operation.

7. Due to negligence in work, the rotor cover is not tightened or the rotor cover and the rotor handle are interchanged, causing the screw buckle not to not match. When the machine is running, the rotor cover is ejected and a serious shaft breakage accident occurs.
