The test results of this standard relate to the initial water repellency and wettability of the finish of fibres, yarns and fabrics, and have little to do with the structure of the fabric.

The AATCC22 standard applies to any textile fabric, whether or not it has undergone a water-repellent treatment. This standard can determine the water repellency of fabrics and is particularly suitable for textiles treated with water repellency, in particularular plain woven fabrics.

Testing method:

(1) Firmly attach the 180X180mm test sample to a ring of a diameter of 152mm, so that it has a smooth surface with no loose crumpled surfaces.

(2) Place the ring with the tissue on the test instrument holder so that the center of the nozzle is aligned with the center of the ring.

(3) Make the warp of the cloth follow the direction of the water drops on the surface of the cloth, add 27±1°C, 250ml of water into the funnel of the cloth. funnel test instrument and make it vaporize in 25-30 seconds and avoid contact with the funnel when adding liquid. Movement of the funnel will change the relative position of the nozzle and the fabric.

(4) The spray time should be controlled within 25-30 seconds, otherwise check whether the small hole is enlarged or blocked.

Evaluation level:

(1) 100 points: the top surface is not wet or wet;

(2) 90 points: a small amount of water on top surface, water or uneven wetting;

(3) 80 points: top surface is wet;

(4) 70 points: entire surface top has some wetting;

(5) 50 points: Entire top surface is fully wetted;

(6) 0 points: Entire top surface is partially wetted and surface sinks.
