Color fastness to light is an important index for evaluating the color fastness of textiles. In order to accurately detect the lightfastness index, various methods have been formulated at home and abroad. These methods can reflect the light color fastness of textiles to some extent, but there are some differences between each method and some limitations, especially some methods are not suitable for practical application due to the long detection period. . Experimental method:

GB/T8427-2008 standard lists five test methods for color fastness to light, including method 1, method 2 and method 3are marked with a sample of blue wool. for reference.

Method 1, to control the exposure period by checking the degree of exposure of the specimen, which is considered accurate. This method requires a set of standard samples of blue wool for each test sample. If multiple samples are to be tested in a single experiment, this will consume a lot of blue wool standard samples; and it is necessary to pay attention to each sample at all times. For the discoloration of the sample to reach levels 4 and 3 of the color change gray card takes a lot of time and energy. If the color fastness to light of a sample is level 6 or 7, the detection cycle will be longer.

Method 2 is applicable to the simultaneous detection of a large number of samples, and its characteristic is to control the exposure period by checking the standard sample of blue wool.However, the operation process of this method is relatively tedious and will take enough time to reach the end of the exposure (the standard blue 7 wool sample is exposed to color change and reaches the gray card level 4 of Color change) .

The third method is to use two standard samples of blue wool to be exposed with the sample to check the standard sample of blue wool to control the exposure period. The results are judged to be good or worse than a certain level. This method is simple to use, but the level of lightfastness should be emphasized and the scope of application is restricted.
