The Martindale Abrasion and Pilling Tester is professionally designed to determine the abrasion and pilling resistance of all kinds of textile structures meeting the following different national standards:
1. International standards
ISO12947.2—1998: Textiles -- Determination of the abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method -- Part 2: Determination of specimen breakdown.
ISO12947.3—1998: Textiles -- Determination of the abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method -- Part 3: Determination of mass loss.
ISO12947-4—1998: Textiles -- Determination of the abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method -- Part 4: Assessment of appearance change.
2. American materials association (ASTM) standards
ASTMD4966-2010: Fabric wear resistance test, Martindale abrasion tester.
3. EU standards
ENISO12947-2:1998: Textiles —Determination of the abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method -- Part 2:Determination of specimen breakdown.
ENISO12947-3:1998: Textiles -- Determination of the abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method -- Part 3: Determination of mass loss.
ENISO12947-4:1998: Textiles -- Determination of the abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method -- Part 4: Assessment of appearance change.
4. German institute of standardization (DIN) standards
DINENISO12947-2-2007: Textiles —Determination of the abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method -- Part 2:Determination of specimen breakdown.
DINENISO12947-3-2007: Textiles -- Determination of the abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method -- Part 3: Determination of mass loss.
DINENISO12947-4-2007: Textiles -- Determination of the abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method -- Part 4: Assessment of appearance change.
5. British Standard Institute standards
BSISO12947.2-1998: Textiles —Determination of the abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method -- Part 2:Determination of specimen breakdown.
BSISO12947.3-1998: Textiles -- Determination of the abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method -- Part 3: Determination of mass loss.
BSISO12947.e-1998: Textiles -- Determination of the abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method -- Part 4: Assessment of appearance change.
6. Chinese National Standards:
GB/T21196.2-2007: Textiles —Determination of the abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method -- Part 2:Determination of specimen breakdown.
GB/T21196.3-2007: Determination of the abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method -- Part 3: Determination of mass loss.
GB/T21196.4-2007: Determination of the abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method -- Part 4: Assessment of appearance change.
The above standards are referenced for the test of wear-resistant performance of fabrics published by several influential international organizations - the Martindale method standard. Among them, the EU standard, the German standardization society standard and the standard of the British standard society adopt the standard from international standardization organization.China's national standards have been revised to adopt ISO standards, which are basically equivalent to the ISO standard, with the standard application range inreased with coated fabrics. With regard to the test of coated fabrics, China's national standard increased correspongding coated fabric breakdown stipulations, friction load parameters, standard abrasive and standard abrasive replacement requirements. The American association of material standard ASTMD4966-2010 "fabric abrasion test martindale abrasion tester", includes two sections, the wear resistance test method regulation, and martindale abrasion tester and the requirements of the auxiliary material. The test method is basically consistent with ISO 12947.2 ~ 4. The measurement of quality loss and the evaluation of appearance changes are slightly different from the ISO 12947.3 ~ 4. The test conditions and test results expression are simplified.
